Training
We understand that the more competent a carer is, the more likely they are to be able to provide the level of care we expect. At Philip Parkinson Homecare we feel that training our staff as thoroughly as possible is crucial to our success.
When we employ a new carer they undergo a comprehensive training schedule where they are educated in all mandatory aspects such as manual moving and handling, first aid, food hygiene, challenging behaviour and health and safety. We also provide training based on the recommendations from the Care Quality Commision (CQC).
We operate a “buddy scheme” where a new carer shadows a more experienced carer for a probationary period until we feel they are ready to provide the care on their own. All carers are provided with a detailed staff handbook, continuous training, six-monthly reviews and a monthly newsletter to ensure they are up to date with any new legislation, procedures or requirements.
Our Homecare Managers monitor and review all carers weekly to check performance and ensure that communication channels are maintained throughout the company.
We have ISO 9001 accreditations and working towards “Investors in People” status. The training required to be part of these organisations require us to bring in outside skills and expertise to ensure that we are providing high quality of service and excellent standards of care.
